Blog Post 8 – Final Multimedia Project

For my project I will be making a website for a documentary that I’m making about my house and the inhabitants that have lived there.

AT THIS POINT I’M THINKING:

My home page would highlight the documentary itself. Other pages would include photo slideshows of behind the scenes of the film’s production as well as a slideshow of images of the house. I’ll have a bio page about the current and previous tenants. I’d also like to highlight the creative works of people that have lived there i.e. their music or visual art.

For Project 3, I will be fixing up my video production group Neko Neko Films’ page. I’ll be working with my buddies to see what they would like to do, as well as doing some online card sorting and focus group style testing.

One of the mobile-friendly sites that I found was http://theawesomer.com. It is a multimedia blog. On the computer it is a grid of video, photos, or other multimedia that you can click on. On my phone, each post shows is lined one after another vertically.

Blog Post 4 – Trevor Smith

I learned the four basic design principles are alignment, proximity, repetition, and contrast. Alignment is what I stress over the most with any design I work with. I like things to be neat and orderly and I feel in web design it’s important to help in keeping continuity page to page.

I asked two voice actors, John DiMaggio and Maurice LaMarche, about what advice they had for people just starting out. I was very frustrated that I was limited to 140 characters, because I wanted to be more specific. I have yet to receive a response, but am anxious about getting some.

I also @replied my improv teacher Amy Jordan. I asked her what she thought it took to get started in comedy.

This was a fun exercise and I’m looking forward to getting some good knowledge.

Blog Post 3: Trevor Smith – Twitter RT

MY PREVIOUS TWITTER EXPERIENCE

I’ve had a Twitter account for awhile now, though I don’t use it consistently. I enjoy using Twitter to post quips, to communicate during large events, and to enter contests. It also has served me well as a platform for self-promotion, though I try to keep that to a minimum.

RETWEET ASSIGNMENT

The retweet assignment was interesting. I had retweeted before using the one-click button, but had never used the RT function. It was confusing at first, because I wasn’t sure whether or not to put a space between RT and the @handle. Like with many things technological this just meant some trial and error.

Blog Post 1: Trevor Smith – About Me

Trevor Smith

My name is Trevor Smith. I am a 23 year-old Mass Communication student. I’m trying to learn web design in order to manage my own portfolio site, as well as, to find work making other people’s sites.

In my spare time I make films with my buddies. I also do audio production. In the coming years, I would like to do some voice-over work for animation. I’m a big fan of cartoons! I grew up on Looney Tunes, VHS tapes of old Disney cartoons, and The Simpsons. My favorite five animated shows are: Futurama, The Simpsons, Mission Hill, King of the Hill, Dragonball.

I am on twitter, though I don’t use it too consistently. My handle is @tu_pint.
