iMovie Exercise

Use iMovie to learn some basic video editing

Objective: Use iMovie to create a short video including your own clips. In groups of three, you will have a camcorder to use to shoot clips interviewing people about their tech usage. Also shoot some B-roll of them using computers, cell phones, etc. Do this quickly; you only have three hours to complete the project.

Requirements:
Fetch these two files (HTML and CSS) to a new folder you create under public_html. Make sure you make a link on the Assignment page of your original site to this new file (foldername/index.html) and re-upload to public_html. Test everything!

  • Make sure you have a link from your Assignment page to the home page of the new folder. (5 pts)
  • Use the features of iMovie discussed in class to create a short movie.
  • At least 3 clips edited properly.
  • B-roll with voice-over.
  • At least one transition.
  • At least one title.
  • Video should be no longer than 90 seconds in total.
  • When you are finished with the video, choose Share and pick an appropriate size to export the video.
  • Upload to YouTube. You can use an existing Google account to start a YouTube account, or make a new one.
  • Find the embed code for your video. You will place this inside an HTML page with some introductory content.
  • Use a Web editor to make a simple Web page to embed your video. You don’t need to use divs, but feel free to use any feature for creating the page.
  • Embed your video somewhere in the code. Include any formatting by choosing CSS on the items you want to format. Apply these to the targeted Rule (this element) and then select where the rule will be defined (new stylesheet).

Tips

  • Open a new Project in iMovie. Import the clips to a new event.
